The belief that the Bible is the Word of God is a central theme of the Christian faith. It is important to emphasize that the interpretation of the Bible as the Word of God presents different nuances and approaches according to the various Christian traditions. The degree of literalness, inerrancy and authority attributed to the Bible varies according to the beliefs and faith traditions of each person or group.
From the Christian perspective, it is believed that the Bible was inspired by God and that the biblical books were written under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is also considered that God revealed his word to the biblical authors, who then translated it into the sacred text. Because of its origin, the Bible is considered the highest authority on matters of faith, doctrine and morals for Christians; and many of them believe that the Bible is infallible, that is, that it contains no errors or contradictions in matters of faith and conduct.
The Bible is considered the primary means by which God reveals Himself to mankind, showing His nature, His will and His plan of salvation. Through the Bible, God communicates with human beings to guide, correct and restore them in their relationship with Him. The Bible is considered a sacred and inspired text, making its reading, study and application essential to life. Christians often see it as a source of wisdom, comfort, moral guidance and spiritual transformation.
It is for this reason that many people use it a lot, because inside it, we find the word of God, prayers of adoration and praise (Moses’ canticle Exodus 15:1-18; Psalms 8, 23, 100, 150); prayers of interception and supplication (Abraham’s prayer for Sodom, Gen. 18:23-33; Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Olives: Mark 14:32-42). If we familiarize ourselves with the Bible, we will discover more prayers, so we invite you to cultivate this attitude of reading the Bible, even if it is only one verse a day. Just as we cannot go a day without putting something in our mouths, so also our souls; for the word of God is the food of our soul.
The two great divisions of the Bible, in Old and New Testament, constitute each of them a great wealth for our Christian life.
Thank you for your attention, see you in a new sharing.
