SUNDAY FEAST CELEBRATION IN MAPUTO

“From day to day nothing more from people, from night nothing more from God” Between us, the value of the celebration comes with the time dedicated to its preparation, to the distribution of the tasks to be carried out, to Acquisition of everything necessary to give warmth, charm and joy to the festive celebration. This same thing happened between us.

The celebration of the feast of St. Sunday in Maputo, begins by convening groups of laymen and women who feel like members of the Dominican Family, to celebrate our ancestors in faith, on August 11. This was a rewarding task for each person’s positive response. The distances between the bairros of Khongolote, Mahotas or Malhangalene become short, there is no difficulty in walking them, at the end the kilometers can be transformed into elongated steps. Everything was combined with full consensus, local, timetable, spiritual and material food, with recreation, forums combined democratically, following the legacy received by our family.

The Dominican family of the Mahotas the previous day, Saturday the 10th, held a ceremony of acceptance and commitment of two new members as members of this family. Simple ceremonies, but meaningless, in which each person consciously and freely, manifested their desire to follow Jesus, with the batismal option, in the style of Domingos de Gusmão. The delivery of a symbol – a medal with the image of St. Domingos – shows this commitment. We cannot fail to mention that this symbol was an offer from the Dominican family in Portugal.

O nosso imenso obrigado, irmãos de Portugal! These are signs that confirm to us that our Dominican family has no borders of culture, no distances that separate us. Bem-haja irmãos e irmãs Portuguese! Or your example is for us a sign and testimony of what it means to be a Dominican Family: to feel the same entrails of companionship and mercy that moved Domingos “to sell his books, to offer himself to free a slave and to talk slowly with a stalajadeiro during “an entire night.”

In addition to the recreational part, young hairs of the elongated family were presented. A panel that contains worthy panelists, either Domingos himself, or Bishop Diogo, mãe Joana de Aza and a strong representative of the convent of Prouille. These questions presented on the plate will emerge very fluidly and will update us, in a different way, to the life and missão of our Pai Domingos.

The Eucharist, prepared and lived as the highest season of grace and illuminated by the Word of God, nourishes us and satisfies us. It was a lively festive atmosphere with singing, dancing and partying of words and rituals, all lived without limitations in time or space. Everything was ao nosso dispor. Regarding the banquet party, we do not have many comments to make, each trouxe group or its farnel and party is clothed in greater abundance, which sparks a spontaneous moment of dance and joy typical of sitting as a member of the same family.

At farewell we were left with sadness… that soon we will be able to relive the same experience.
