They say that to leave is to die a little. Perhaps this explains the beautiful words, the tears and the endless hugs from the people who accompanied us and also from all those who came to say goodbye. The separation was full of emotion and nostalgia, but we had to leave for new missions and new lands. So, after saying goodbye, the four of us, Annette, Carole, Victoire and Dulecine, left on October 15 around 10 am. We were all curious, proud, full of doubts and stressed about the trip. Although we were comfortably seated, we didn’t miss the dizzying moment when the plane took off. For the first time for some of us, we were in the air, high above the clouds, far away from our continent. How this awakened in us feelings of panic-joy; for this is our first flight. Leaving Cameroon, we made the first stop-over in Morocco. It was not an easy experience for us, which resulted in a prelude to the mission for us. The next day, at 9 o’clock in the morning, we took the second flight to Spain.
We were struck by the immensity of its infrastructure and the dynamism of its activities and people. Everyone is in a hurry in this country, unlike at home. We received a worthy welcome in the Community, even if not all the members were present. It is a great pleasure to set foot in the land of origin of our Founders and to stay at the motherhouse. How nice it is to see all the colors represented and to know that there are so many of us in the community. Besides, after a week of contact and adaptation, we started classes a few days later.
How different it is here! You have to continuously fight against the cold, forget your eating and dressing habits, but also adapt to your educational system. Man is a being of adaptation, and this quality is inseparable from the mission.
May Our Lady of the Rosary and Our Founders help us. May the grace and blessing of the Lord be with us.
